The gas and fire guard is responsible for compliance with the procedures and safety regulations specified by the client. As such, he/she is responsible for making sure that occupational accidents involving injury or other consequences, and damage to materials and machinery by fire or explosion, simply cannot happen. If accidents, gas outbreaks or fire do occur, however, the gas and fire guard initiates immediate action. Once these primary measures have been taken, he/she alerts the emergency services, instructs them upon arrival and assists them with evacuation and clearing procedures.
